Prominent Nigerian Islamic cleric, Sheikh Dr. Ahmad Abubakar Mahmud Gumi, has shared his views on the reported ceasefire between the United States and Iran.

In a post on his official Facebook page on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, Sheikh Gumi stated that Israel has been excluded from the negotiations. He also noted that Arab Gulf states are not involved in the discussions.

The cleric wrote: “Ceasefire between the USA and Iran. Israel is excluded from negotiations. Arab Gulf states are out of the picture. The nuclear Pakistan the boker. If you want respect don’t be someone’s dogtail.”

The statement comes as reports indicate that the United States and Iran have agreed to a two-week ceasefire. The agreement reportedly includes provisions for the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz to allow safe passage for vessels.
