According to a report by The Times Of Israel on July 19, 2026, the United States military said it carried out overnight airstrikes against Iranian forces following a deadly missile attack that targeted American troops stationed in Jordan. The operation marked the eighth straight night of US strikes as tensions between Washington and Tehran continued to intensify across the region.

The Pentagon’s Central Command (CENTCOM) confirmed that the strikes were directed at Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) forces believed to have been involved in the attack on US personnel. However, the military did not disclose specific information about the locations struck, the assets used in the operation, or the extent of the damage caused.

In a statement, CENTCOM said the operation involved “American military assets” and formed part of an ongoing effort to respond to the attack on US forces in Jordan.

CENTCOM also stated that the air campaign “successfully hit Iranian military coastal surveillance and air defense facilities, maritime capabilities, and missile and drone storage sites to continue degrading Iranian military capabilities.”

The latest strikes came after the US military confirmed that two American service members were killed during an Iranian ballistic missile attack on Jordan the previous day. According to CENTCOM, another service member remains missing in action following the assault.
