According to a report by Anadolu Agency on Saturday July 18, 2026, Hossein Mozaffar, a member of Iran’s Expediency Council, has said Iranian forces are targeting ships in the Omani section of the Strait of Hormuz because they are allegedly being used to transport military equipment destined for Iran’s adversaries.

Speaking on the issue, Mozaffar claimed that the shipments pose a direct threat to Iran’s national security and justified the attacks as a defensive measure.

“We attack ships in the Omani section of the Strait of Hormuz because the enemy transports its military equipment through that route and via Omani waters to endanger our national security,” Mozaffar said.

His remarks come as tensions remain high across the Gulf region, where the Strait of Hormuz continues to serve as one of the world’s most strategically important maritime corridors for global energy supplies and commercial shipping.

Mozaffar also accused Iran’s opponents of abandoning diplomatic engagement, describing them as a “deceitful and treacherous enemy.” He argued that Tehran should continue to follow the directives laid down by Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei in responding to the evolving regional situation.

The latest comments are expected to draw further international attention as military tensions continue to escalate across the Middle East, with repeated attacks on strategic infrastructure and commercial shipping raising concerns over the security of one of the world’s busiest maritime trade routes.

The statements nevertheless reflect the increasingly confrontational rhetoric surrounding the ongoing regional crisis and the continued importance of the Strait of Hormuz to international security and global energy markets….See More
