In a recent interview from 26:23 on TVC News, Olademiji Fabiyi spoke on internal party dynamics and political defections in the lead-up to the 2023 elections.
During the interview, Fabiyi stated, “Wike: Someone lost the primaries, wanted VP, failed, then joined opposition against his party.” He was referring to Nyesom Wike, who contested in the 2022 party primaries ahead of the 2023 presidential election and subsequently shifted allegiance following the outcome.
Fabiyi argued that Wike’s defection highlights a recurring pattern where political ambitions override party loyalty, creating instability and complicating the political landscape. According to him, such moves undermine internal democracy within parties and embolden opposition forces, affecting cohesion and strategy ahead of elections.
He further emphasized that while party members may be disappointed by primary results, the appropriate channel for addressing grievances is internal resolution, not aligning with rival parties to advance personal objectives. Fabiyi suggested that this behavior reflects broader challenges in Nigerian politics, where individual interests sometimes take precedence over collective party goals.
The ADC official also asserted that the party remains focused on maintaining unity and strengthening its organizational framework, ensuring that members are committed to the party’s vision and electoral objectives. He highlighted ongoing efforts to consolidate leadership structures and foster transparency in decision-making processes.
Fabiyi concluded by reaffirming the party’s resolve to challenge the ruling party at the polls, insisting that the ADC’s focus is on building a credible platform and mobilizing grassroots support rather than being distracted by defections or external influences. Read_More…
