As reported by The Jerusalem Post on April 6, 2026, an Iranian military spokesman on Monday said Tehran’s ongoing approach to the conflict is intended to pressure its adversaries into what he described as a state of “real regret,” framing the strategy as a calculated and rational effort aimed at strengthening deterrence and preventing future escalations in regional hostilities.

“The aim of continuing the war is to bring the enemy to a point of real regret; this may be seen by some as an emotional approach, but in fact it is entirely based on strategic rationality,” Mohammad Akraminia said.

He added that the goal of the strategy is to prevent future conflicts by raising deterrence to a level where adversaries would not risk further action against Iran. He said Iran’s opponents have so far failed to achieve their objectives, while Tehran has responded to threats and, in some instances, carried out reciprocal actions.
