According to a report, Deputy Chief of Staff for Policy and Homeland Security Advisor Stephen Miller has defended President Donald Trump’s tough stance on Iran, saying the administration’s response to Tehran’s alleged violation of an agreement demonstrates that the United States will no longer accept actions it considers harmful to its interests.

Speaking during an interview from 2:17 on Fox News’ Hannity on Thursday, July 16, 2026, Miller argued that Iran’s leadership wrongly believed it could breach an agreement with the United States without facing significant consequences.

He maintained that previous American administrations had, in his view, allowed Iran to pursue aggressive policies for years without taking sufficient action. Miller said President Trump had adopted a different approach by responding firmly to what he described as Tehran’s violations.

According to Miller, Iranian leaders expected Washington to ignore their actions, particularly following what he alleged was an attack on commercial shipping that violated an existing agreement. He said the Trump administration instead imposed severe consequences, reflecting the president’s determination to enforce what he described as America’s red lines.
