In a recent interview from 29:10 on Symfoni TV, on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, Bolaji Abdullahi, the National Publicity Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), spoke about the political events leading to the 2023 presidential election and the role played by former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai. He argued that El-Rufai was among the key figures who worked to build support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in Northern Nigeria.

Abdullahi said political alliances and regional mobilization were important factors in the outcome of the 2023 election. He maintained that several influential politicians contributed to the campaign, particularly in the North.

Speaking during the interview, Abdullahi stated, “2023: It was Nasir El-Rufai who mobilized the entire North behind President BAT.” He made the remark while discussing El-Rufai’s political relationship with President Tinubu and his role during the presidential campaign.

According to him, El-Rufai actively encouraged political leaders and stakeholders across the North to support Tinubu’s candidacy at a time when the election was highly competitive. He argued that the former governor’s efforts contributed significantly to the APC’s victory in the region.
