Former Kaduna Central senator, Shehu Sani, has expressed concern over what he described as the growing disrespect some young Nigerians show to Nigeria’s founding leaders, especially the late Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe.

Speaking in a video from 26:47 shared by CREATIVE TV on Wednesday, July 15, Sani said it is rare to see young Hausa people insulting leaders like Sir Ahmadu Bello or Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa. However, he said some young people, including those born decades after Nigeria’s independence, openly insult Azikiwe.

According to Sani, Azikiwe, popularly known as “Zik of Africa,” remains one of the most internationally recognised Nigerian leaders. He said the late statesman played a major role in Africa’s independence struggle and deserved to be remembered with respect rather than insulted.
