In a recent interview from 1:27:11 on Nevon HQ, on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, Dele Momodu, an ADC chieftain, discussed the political calculations ahead of the 2027 presidential election, expressing confidence that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar remains one of the strongest contenders in the race. He argued that Atiku’s long-standing political relationships across Northern Nigeria would give him a significant advantage in meeting the constitutional requirements needed to win the presidency.

Momodu maintained that the North has historically played a decisive role in presidential elections because of its large voting population. He noted that candidates seeking the nation’s highest office must secure widespread acceptance across the region rather than relying on support from only a few states.

Speaking during the interview, Momodu stated, “There is no part of the North where Atiku Abubakar will not get 25% of the votes.” He made the remark while explaining why he believes Atiku is well-positioned to perform strongly across the North during the next general election.

According to Momodu, Atiku’s political structure, built over several decades, gives him a broad support base that cuts across the North-West, North-East, and North-Central.
