Businessman, Destiny Inalegwu, has recounted how he and his family narrowly escaped after suspected armed herdsmen allegedly invaded his residence during an attack on Otukpo Local Government Area of Benue State.

Speaking during an interview from 0:19 on News Central TV on Thursday, 16 July, 2026, Inalegwu narrated how the attackers stormed his community, forcing residents to flee for their lives. According to him, he had no choice but to escape with his family before the assailants reached his house, a decision he believes saved their lives. He said the attackers later vandalised and destroyed his property.

Recounting the ordeal, he said: “They invaded my house. Before they could reach my house. I had to escape with my family. And when they came, they destroyed my house, damaged my window, burn down my clothes, motorcycle including my bedroom.”

His account adds to growing reports from residents of Otukpo who have alleged that armed herdsmen carried out coordinated attacks on communities, leaving homes destroyed and families displaced.
