In a startling revelation reported by the Nigerian Tribune, Chief Gani Adams, the Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland, has disclosed troubling security information about illegal mining activities and suspicious aerial deliveries in Owo, Ondo State.

“There is a bush in Owo in Ondo State where these people were mining our solid minerals,” Adams began, before sharing intelligence about mysterious aerial activities in the area. “About three years ago, there was information at my disposal that a helicopter usually came to that forest to drop food items and weapons.”

The Yoruba leader drew a direct connection between these suspicious activities and subsequent security deterioration in the region: “Six months after I got that information, a road between Owo to Ikare now became a security threat. They always attacked and kidnapped people in broad daylight.”

Adams further noted the spread of insecurity to neighboring areas, stating, “The road that leads to Kogi also became a threat.”

The statement suggests a possible correlation between illegal resource exploitation and the deterioration of security in affected areas, raising questions about surveillance and security measures in Nigeria’s forest regions.

Adams’ disclosure adds weight to ongoing concerns about the relationship between illegal mining activities and security challenges in various parts of Nigeria, particularly in areas with valuable mineral resources.
