The SDP Former Presidential Candidate, Adewole Adebayo has alleged that the Labour Party Presidential Candidate, Mr Peter Obi had promised to remove Subsidy on his first day in office if he had won the 2023 election. He argued that he was the only Presidential Candidate who insisted that subsidy should not be removed.

He stated that the removal of the subsidy is a bad decision and that if it were beneficial, people would be celebrating and congratulating President Tinubu since it removal. He argued that the political elite prioritizes subsidizing the living conditions of those in government, rather than sharing prosperity with the masses. He criticized the political elite for not caring about the welfare of the common people and instead focusing on maintaining their own privileged positions.

He said in an interview with Channels TV From 2:16, ”If I have won the election, I wouldn’t have removed subsidy. And I have said before many times that I won’t make that mistake. Even though the people who scored the highest votes; President Tinubu, Atiku Abubakar, and Peter Obi who was advised by Prof Pat Utomi that they should remove Subsidy. Infact, the Labour Candidate said he will remove Subsidy on day 1 and that is May 29th in 2023.

The issue is that the removal of subsidy is a bad decision. If the removal of subsidy is a good thing, then everybody should be sending letters of congratulations to President Tinubu and they should be rejoicing in the street by now. The problem we are having is that the political elite thought that they should not share prosperity with the downtrodden, so they can Subsidize any oth er thing. They will subsidize living condition of people in government; whether you are elected or whether you are in the National Assembly, your life will be subsidized.”….Discover .. Morê
