The SDP Former Presidential Candidate, Adewole Adebayo has advised Nigerians to conserve their energy because the price of fuel is still going to increase in the coming days. He highlighted how he predicted that the removal of fuel subsidy would lead to price increases, warning Nigerians over a year ago that they would face heavy price hikes.

He however suggested that the government can take steps to mitigate the pain by implementing alternative policies. He proposes that the government should prioritize a National Automotive policy that promotes the use of electric cars for commercial vehicles, reducing the reliance on petrol. He argued that this would help alleviate the burden on citizens and provide a more sustainable solution to the fuel price crisis.

He said in an interview with Channels TV from 5:53, ”When the removal of Fuel subsidy was made official, I kept reminding people that this policy move is going to cost you. And I said it about over a year ago that Nigerians will see heavy price increase. And when I was called for this programme to discuss the price of Petrol, I was thinking to myself if we were going to discuss the price increase today or the one that will come in 6 months or in one year.

If anybody is angry or tired please conserve your energy, the fuel price is traveling up. The price will travel up and the pain will certainly increase. But the governnment can do other things to reduce the pain, they can put the horse before the cart and that is if they know where the horse is. What they should do is to now try to tell Nigerians that petrol is not your business, they can have a National Automotive policy that says that majority of our commercial vehicles will go off petrol.”….VīewMōre
