Peter Obi, the NDC presidential candidate, has said he would work closely with opposition parties if elected president, arguing that good governance requires cooperation rather than political rivalry.
Speaking during an interview from 11.55 shared by Advocacy for Good Governance, Obi said that after an election, a president should serve every Nigerian regardless of political affiliation. He said he would consult opposition parties before taking important national decisions because no one has all the answers.
Obi said he believes listening to different opinions would help the country make better decisions. According to him, he does not have a monopoly of knowledge and would always be willing to learn from others.
To support his position, Obi recalled his time as governor, saying he governed successfully despite not having lawmakers from his own party. He said all 30 members of the state House of Assembly, three senators, and 11 members of the House of Representatives were from different political parties, yet they worked together for the benefit of the state.
Obi also said he would ensure stability across political parties and encourage cooperation instead of conflict. He expressed confidence that Nigeria would function better under his leadership, adding that he would confront the country’s challenges directly while welcoming ideas from across the political divide.
