According to a report by The Sun on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, Dele Momodu, media entrepreneur and publisher, criticised what he described as the “bullying” of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, stating that Atiku merits recognition for providing Peter Obi with his first chance to contest as a vice-presidential candidate.

He made the remarks in a post shared on X on Monday, where he argued that it was unjust for Atiku to face attacks from some supporters of the former Anambra State governor despite his earlier political support for Obi.

Momodu pointed out that Atiku selected Obi as his running mate during the 2019 presidential election under the Peoples Democratic Party, an opportunity he said played a significant role in Obi’s national political exposure.

He maintained that the criticism directed at Atiku by segments of Obi’s supporters overlooked the history of their political relationship and the role Atiku played in elevating Obi to a national platform.

He questioned assertions that the Labour Party candidate was denied victory, particularly in light of the voting patterns observed in regions considered to be Obi’s strongholds.

Momodu expressed doubt over the rigging claims by highlighting the voting results recorded in those areas, stating, “You said Obi won, and they did not allow him to take power.
