According to a video posted on the official YouTube channel of Arise News on Monday, May 18, 2026, Rivers State factional PDP Chairman, Dr. Robinson Ewor, expressed doubts over reports linking former President Goodluck Jonathan to a presidential ambition under a faction of the Peoples Democratic Party ahead of the 2027 general election.
Speaking during an interview from from 7:57 on Newsday, Ewor argued that the PDP crisis had already been settled through legal and institutional decisions. He maintained that the party structure currently recognized by the Independent National Electoral Commission remains the one led by allies of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.
Reacting to speculation that Jonathan could emerge under another PDP bloc, Ewor dismissed the possibility and insisted that the former president would not associate himself with what he described as an invalid political structure.
“The Supreme Court has spoken; INEC has taken action. I’m not sure Jonathan will embark on this suicide mission.”
Ewor further stated that Jonathan is experienced enough to understand the current political situation within the PDP.
