Media aide to the Delta State Governor, Ossai Ovie Success, has reacted to the outcome of the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election in Delta State which saw long-serving lawmaker, Nicholas Mutu, lose his ticket after nearly three decades in the House of Representatives.
Ossai shared the update on his X handle on Saturday following the conclusion of the APC primaries in the state.
According to the result announced by returning officer, Okenmor Fidelis Tilije, Rt. Hon. (Barr.) Basil Okolobaowei Ganagana emerged winner of the primary election for Bomadi/Patani Federal Constituency.
Mutu, who has represented the constituency since 1999, was seeking another term after spending about 28 years in the green chamber.
Reacting to the outcome, Ossai highlighted the end of Mutu’s long stay in the House of Representatives.
“Mutu loses primary to Ganagana after 28 years as House of Representative member representing Bomadi/Patani Federal Constituency,” he wrote.
He noted that Mutu had served continuously from 1999 to 2027, making him one of the longest-serving lawmakers from the constituency.
Ossai also identified Ganagana as the candidate who defeated the veteran legislator in the APC contest, while sharing images of both politicians.
The development has generated reactions within political circles in Delta State, with observers describing the result as a significant shift in the political landscape of Bomadi/Patani Federal Constituency.
