‎In a recent statement via his official X account, former Nigerian senator Shehu Sani has commented on the state of insecurity in Nigeria, acknowledging that some parts of the country continue to face serious security challenges, stating that while the situation is real and cannot be denied, external assessments may not always reflect the full reality on the ground.

‎”Insecurity in some parts of our country is not in dispute. But the US advisory warning is an exaggeration of the situation on the ground, taking Cognisance of the fact that their forces are actively partnering to combat the evil forces. What we are fighting is what the countries of Mali, Burkina Faso, Niger and Chad are also fighting against.Bandits and terrorists will never win,” he wrote.

‎In his post, Sani suggested that a recent advisory issued by the United States presents an exaggerated picture of the security situation, according to him, such warnings may overlook the ongoing efforts being made by Nigerian authorities and their international partners and stated that security forces are actively working to address threats and restore stability in affected areas.

‎Shehu Sani noted that Nigeria is not alone in facing these challenges. He explained that countries such as Mali, Burkina Faso, Niger, and Chad are dealing with similar threats, he said the fight against armed groups and insurgents is a regional issue affecting multiple nations across West and Central Africa.

‎He further highlighted the role of collaboration in tackling insecurity, he indicated that partnerships between Nigeria and international allies, including support from foreign forces, are contributing to ongoing counterterrorism efforts and suggested that these joint actions demonstrate commitment to addressing the problem rather than ignoring it.

‎He stressed that despite the challenges, there is confidence among security agencies that progress is being made and maintained that criminal groups, including bandits and terrorists, do not have the capacity to ultimately overcome the combined efforts of national and regional forces. Read_More…
