During an interview from 22:14 on Arise Television, Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, National Chairman of the People’s Redemption Party (PRP), spoke on the state of opposition politics and internal party stability.
Baba-Ahmed said his party remains relatively stable despite what he described as ongoing challenges within the broader opposition space. He noted that the absence of internal crises within the PRP is something members do not take for granted, especially in the current political climate.
He also emphasized the party’s position on leadership selection, stating that competence and capacity should take precedence over regional or ethnic considerations. According to him, the focus should be on identifying individuals with the ability to deliver effective governance, regardless of their background.
He added that the party remains open to working with credible individuals, stressing that Nigerians should prioritize quality leadership in making electoral decisions.
According to him, “Look, in this administration, every day we wake up and there’s nothing wrong outside our door, we say, “Thank you, God,” because seriously, the opposition is in trouble. But anyway, our party is open. We believe that we must go for the highest quality if really we are going to put a good leader in this country who can change this country. We don’t care if he falls from heaven. That is the truth. We are hoping that Nigerians can elect a leader based on his quality and not based on where he comes from. We’re open-minded about this.” Read_More…
