In a recent development, Nigerian lawyer Kenneth Okonkwo has publicly expressed his support for Governor Sim Fubara of Rivers State. Okonkwo’s comments, which were made in a video shared on Symfoni TV from 26:40, praised Fubara for his steadfast defense of his rights amidst perceived injustices within Nigeria’s judicial and electoral systems.

Okonkwo emphasized the critical role politicians play in combating corruption and maintaining their principles, even when faced with personal risks. He argued that Fubara’s resilience and determination to resist and protest have been instrumental in preventing a potential decline in Rivers State’s situation.

The lawyer commended Fubara’s dedication to upholding justice and democratic values, suggesting that the governor’s unwavering stance sets a positive precedent for other politicians to emulate.

In a powerful statement, Okonkwo declared, “Any politician that is not behaving like Sim Fubara, who resists and protests when his rights are trampled upon, knowing that our judicial system, knowing that our electoral system has failed us—that any politician who will not stand his ground, no matter the risk to his person, I said, I will not speak for that politician again. And I maintain it.”

He further elaborated on the potential consequences of inaction, stating, “And you can see what is happening because we can’t go forward. We come down. If Sim Fubara has been saying ‘calm down’ do you know where Rivers state would have been?”
