Former Chief of Defense Staff, General Martin Agwai, has spoken about the emotional toll of losing colleagues during his military career. He disclosed that the pain of witnessing such losses has stayed with him over the years.

In a video shared by Arise TV from 16:39, General Agwai revealed that there have been times when he walked into a bathroom to cry, overwhelmed by the memories of friends and colleagues who passed away. He mentioned how difficult it is to experience the sudden loss of someone standing right next to you, such as in a trench or on the battlefield, only to realize that a bullet has ended their life while you were spared.

In Agwai’s words: “I have one time walked into the bathroom and shed tears because of the number of my colleagues that I have seen that passed on. It is very difficult. And if you find you are standing in the trench or somewhere with a colleague and a bullet kìlls him and you are lucky to be alive, it would ever remain in your memory how your colleague passed on”
