The Director General of the Department of State Services (DSS), Ademola Oluwatosin Ajayi, has spoken about an incident that happened in Azare, Bauchi State, during his time as State Director of DSS.
Speaking in a video shared by Symfoni TV from 3:20, Ajayi mentioned that a group of Boko Haram terrorists attacked Azare with the intent to kidnap people. He said the people of Azare managed to kill all the terrorists despite losing some members of the community.
Ajayi said that the last surviving terrorist, named Khalid, climbed a tree and continued shooting at the people of Azare but they eventually killed him. He noted that since that day, Azare has not experienced another terrorist attack. He praised the bravery of the community members.
In Ajayi’s words: “When I was State Director (of DSS) in Bauchi, most of you would remember an incident in Azare where a group of Boko Haram terrorists had invaded Azare. They were shooting in an attempt to kidnap and the community chased them. They killed some members of the community but the community members killed all of them. The last guy, Khalid, climbed on a tree and was firing. The community stood, they were resilient and they killed him. Since that day there has not been one terrorists attack in Azare”
