Dr. Christopher Ejike Ihenacho, a respected elder and medical expert, has accused some Igbo politicians of working against Peter Obi out of fear and selfishness, during an interview with The Sun on Friday, 18 July, 2025.
He said these politicians know that Obi will not support corruption or tolerate misuse of public resources.
Dr. Ihenacho said those fighting Obi are not doing it for the good of Nigeria or the Igbo people.
Instead, they are afraid that if Obi becomes president, they will no longer have access to public funds for personal gain.
He described this fear as the real reason behind their opposition to Obi’s presidential ambition.
According to Dr. Ihenacho, Peter Obi has the ability to change Nigeria for the better.
He praised Obi as a focused and disciplined leader who wants to serve the people.
He said Obi is far better than the people trying to stop him and that many Nigerians see hope in his leadership style.
He condemned the actions of Igbo politicians who, instead of supporting their own, choose to side with outside forces.
He said it is painful and shameful that they allowed themselves to be used against Obi.
He called it a betrayal that history will not forget.
Dr. Ihenacho warned that when leaders put personal interest above the good of the people, the entire society suffers.
He urged the Igbo political class to reflect on their actions and stand with those who truly want progress.
He also called on ordinary citizens to remain alert and support honest leaders like Obi.
According to him, real change in Nigeria will only come when good people rise and bad leaders are rejected.
Dr. Ihenacho said Peter Obi remains a strong symbol of hope.
He expressed confidence that truth and justice will one day prevail, and those who betrayed their own people will be remembered for the wrong reasons.
”Then, those Igbo politicians working against Peter Obi are afraid because they know Peter Obi will not work with them nor allow them to steal public funds and other resources,” he said.
