INEC Director of ICT Dr. Lawrence Bayode has revealed that INEC Chairman Professor Joash Amupitan was completely unaware of tweets being posted in his name on X, formerly known as Twitter, and was confused when first informed about the account.
Speaking from 8:17 on Channels TV, he said, “On Friday, I saw this on Twitter, I went to the chairman and said, ‘Sir, something is happening with your Twitter account.’ And he said, ‘What?’ I said, ‘Did you just change your Twitter account?’ He said, ‘What is a Twitter account?’ He said, ‘I can’t even remember using a Twitter account.’ I said, ‘Hey, something is wrong,'” he recalled.
He recounted how he returned to his office to investigate further, only to discover that the situation was worse than he had initially thought.
He noted that a second X account separate from the first was also pushing out information in the chairman’s name, apparently in an attempt to counter what the first account had already published. Read_More…
