According to a report by Punch News on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, Pastor Asian, the father of Aniefiok Asian, a university student who was kidnapped by unknown gunmen within Uyo, has revealed that after the ransom demanded was paid, he was told to go and pick up his son, Aniefiok. Then the abductors stopped calling, and he has not heard from his son since then.
Recounting the incident, Pastor Asian said that after his son was kidnapped, they received a call from an unknown person demanding ransom. He said that initially, the kidnappers demanded N30 million but it was later reduced to N500,000 with hope they would release the student, Aniefiok Asian.
He stated that the ransom was paid through an account provided by the kidnappers. After the payment, Pastor Asian was instructed to go to Abak to pick up his son, Aniefiok Asian. Since then, the abductors stopped contacting them, and they have neither seen nor heard from their son again.
