Nigerian music star KCee has revealed the secret behind what he proudly calls “the best celebrity marriage anybody can think of,” explaining that his decision to keep his relationship entirely private for many years was a deliberate strategy to build a strong, unbreakable foundation.
The “Limpopo” king shared that before he and his wife went public, they made a firm agreement to stay away from social media, recognizing the immense pressure and scrutiny that often destroys celebrity relationships. He believed that a marriage, like a house, must be fully built before being exposed to the world.
Speaking on Off The Top with VJ Adams, KCee detailed how he and his wife avoided tagging or posting each other, even after having children, to protect their union from the “dem say dem say” gossip that can be so destructive.
He explained that this period of privacy allowed them to grow together without external interference, building the trust and friendship that is now the bedrock of their 14-year marriage. It wasn’t until the 2020 lockdown, out of sheer boredom, that he finally posted a family picture, shocking fans and even industry colleagues like Don Jazzy, and revealing a family life he had successfully shielded for years.
KCee said, “When I got married, I had an agreement with my wife, we ain’t going public.’ We need to build our marriage before we take it out. Because if you don’t build it, the gossip and rumors will come in and destroy it. No marriage is holy or perfect; you build it.
It’s like building a house, a structure. If you allow people to come in before you build it, they will destroy it before you build it. So for me, I needed to build it before I let people know what’s happening. So I told my wife, ‘Don’t follow me on Facebook, don’t follow me on Instagram,’ and she was excited about it.
