The Minister of Works and former Governor of Ebonyi State, David Umahi, has stated that all governors from the South-East are in support of President Bola Tinubu’s re-election in 2027, as reported by Punch on Monday, 18 August, 2025.
Umahi explained that the five governors of the region are united in their decision to stand with the President as he seeks a second term.
The minister stated that the South-East governors are leaders who control their states and that their actions are a clear signal of their loyalty to the President.
He mentioned Anambra, Enugu, Ebonyi, Abia, and Imo as states where governors are showing cooperation.
According to him, this unity is part of a larger political plan that will shape the region’s future.
Umahi also defended his position in South-East politics.
He argued that his record as governor of Ebonyi State and his current work as Minister of Works place him in a strong position when the presidency eventually shifts to the region.
He described himself as one who has delivered results and insisted that his achievements can stand side by side with those of other leaders.
The minister challenged those who doubt his capacity, stressing that his projects and reforms remain visible for all to see.
He said his leadership transformed Ebonyi and that his contribution at the federal level is helping the South-East.
“I beat my chest and say ‘Listen, God has used me, President Tinubu has used me, to better the lot of the South-East.’ You can tell when we last had it this good.
All the governors of the South-East are supporting the president for 2027, and there’s no governor in the South-East that is not supporting the president,” he said.
