Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike has launched a scathing critique of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, questioning his political history and challenging claims about rescuing Nigeria.
During a television interview broadcast on Channels TV, Minister Wike used personal analogies to express his disapproval of Atiku’s political trajectory across multiple parties.
“If I’m his (Atiku) son. I will sit him down and I will say, ‘Dad, I don’t care what you want. How can you tell me as your son you have made this history of jumping from one party to another till you’re almost 80-something years. How?'” Wike stated during the televised interview.
When the interviewer mentioned that political opponents claim they want to rescue Nigeria, Minister Wike responded with pointed questions about Atiku’s previous role in government.
“Rescue what? Who has sunk? You were VP for 8 years. You were VP for 8 years. You were on the economic council. What happened?” Wike challenged during the Channels TV broadcast.
The minister’s comments appear to reference Atiku’s tenure as Vice President under former President Olusegun Obasanjo from 1999 to 2007, questioning the effectiveness of his previous governmental role while criticizing his pattern of party switching throughout his political career.
