Without doubt, Nollywood and Hollywood are the most famous movie industries in the world currently. Despite the accolades received by these two movie industries, there’s a huge gap in box office earnings. In order for Nollywood to be regarded as a first-class movie industry just like Hollywood, I suggest they adopt these 4 things from Hollywood.

1. Length Of Time (Durability)

Gone are the days when Nollywood movies’ duration would be at least 1 hour 30 minutes. These days it’s less than 45 minutes, while others are just 30 minutes.

Hollywood has always maintained a long running time for a single movie, ranging from 1 hour 30 minutes to 3 hours. I think this has been one of the reasons why their movies remain the most popular on platforms like Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Hulu, Disney Plus, HBO Max and many others.

Maintaining a similar duration would undoubtedly narrow the gap between both industries, because no one wants their money to be depleted in the blink of an eye.

2. Perfecting Characters

One of the reasons why Nollywood movies in the 90’s and early 2000’s were able to attract the attention of millions of Africans is simply because actors have been used to playing characters that they are good at. Merely looking at an album cover two decades back, you can tell which role Patience Ozokwor will be playing in a movie, likewise Chiwetalu Aguu, Charles Okafor, Jonh Okafor, Kanayo O Kanayo and many more.

These days, different actors are being asked to take on different roles in different movies regardless of whether they are good at it or not.

In Hollywood movies, actors are assigned to roles that suit them, and if there are doubts over the possibility of an actor portraying a role more accurately, an entry is made to try out other actors, or the selected actor is sometimes asked to undergo some training just for the role.

50 Cent had to go through a dramatic weight loss (he lost 54 pounds) just for him to play a role in “Things Fall Apart”.

3. Embracing Animation

Hollywood movies have made many believe that everything is real. Due to the animations in their movies, hundreds of people now believe that alians and zombies exist.

Nollywood animations aren’t really that bad, but there is a need for better improvement.

4. The Safety Of Actors And Actresses After Movie Shooting

Ensuring the safety of actors and actresses after movie shooting is vital for the well-being of the film industry. Implementing security protocols, providing mental health support, and incorporating contractual safeguards are essential measures to safeguard performers’ welfare post-shoot. By prioritizing their safety and rights, the industry fosters a secure and supportive environment for talent to thrive beyond the set….S££ MOR£
