During an interview with Channels TV from 23:42, former Governor Ayo Fayose reacted to a statement he made in the past about the relationship between Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, now the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory.

Fayose, in a video that went viral in 2023, had advised Fubara not to engage in conflict with Wike. He told Fubara “I know Wike, if he says he will fight you, you either surrender or have trouble till the end”.

Amid the current political conflict between Wike and Fubara, Fayose explained that his advice to Fubara was made in good faith and with the intention of fostering harmony between Fubara the then-incoming governor and Wike the then-outgoing governor

Fayose stated that the breach of trust between Wike and Fubara is too severe to be reconciled. He said that resolving the issue might be possible but restoring the trust between the two leaders would be a difficult task

In Fayose’s words: “Well since you said I am becoming a prophet, I am becoming a prophet indeed. Maybe the journey of my life will end up in the vineyard of the Lord. You never can tell. I said all I said in good faith, all I said was to ensure that there is harmony between Governor Fubara and governor Wike. The turnout of events has given everybody a lot of concern. I said what I said in good faith. That is the advise I ought to give somebody coming up as governor in a state like Rivers where we are friends of Rivers and friends of then-outgoing Governor Wike now FCT minister”
