An APC Chieftain, Cletus Obun has highlighted the need for security agencies to question journalists suspected of financing terrorism. He argued that even the Army discovered that their own colleagues were being used by the Bandits to ambush them.

He emphasized that security agencies are working within the law to question and arrest individuals who pose a security risk. He expressed concern that excessive criticism of security agencies can make them hesitant to take necessary actions, allowing security threats to go unchecked. He argued that security agencies should be supported rather than hounded into silence, citing the example of former President Buhari being blackmailed into silence by reminders of his past decrees under the military rule.

He said in an interview with Arise TV from 12:41, ”We are suffering and going through insurgency in Nigeria. Are we suggesting that the security agencies does not have reasonable cause to question a Journalist who they believe is a terrorist financier? We saw the case of Anini, it was an Inspector of Police who was his collaborator. If Police goes after such people, they are working within the ambit of the law.

Even the army in the North East discovered that some of their men were being used to ambush them. So if such people are arrested under our current security circumstance, should they not be questioned? When we make our security agencies to become so jittery, we let so many things go under the bridge. And I think our security agencies should be supported other than being hounded into silence. I saw it happened under the Buhari’s administration, he was blackmailed into silence. Each time he talks they remind him of decree two, this are political blackmails.”….VïêwMôrê
