In a message during the Sunday Worship Service, Pastor W.F. Kumuyi, General Superintendent of the Deeper Christian Life Ministry, addressed the critical issue of honesty in healthcare, particularly among Christian doctors.
His sermon video from 2 hours 58 minutes, titled “The Interpreter of Divine Revelation,” emphasized the importance of truthfulness, especially when dealing with matters of life and death.
Pastor Kumuyi highlighted the example of Joseph, who, while imprisoned, interpreted the dreams of his fellow inmates without hesitation or alteration.
He noted that Joseph did not sugarcoat the truth or seek to comfort the chief baker with false hope, but instead delivered the harsh reality: the baker’s life was near its end. Joseph’s motive was clear—he wanted the baker to prepare for eternity.
Drawing a parallel to modern-day Christian doctors, Kumuyi expressed concern that many fail to tell their patients the full truth about their health status. “Christian doctors don’t tell their patients the truth but unbelievers will. They don’t tell them the truth about their health status even though they knew that except a miracle happened, the patient would die. They would say ‘God is in control,'” Kumuyi remarked.
He contrasted this with the approach of non-believing doctors, who are often more straightforward about the prognosis.
Kumuyi stressed the importance of honesty, arguing that it allows patients to prepare themselves spiritually and emotionally for what lies ahead. “It is better to tell patients the truth so that they will prepare themselves for eternity,” he stated firmly.
He further cautioned against the tendency to offer false reassurances, urging preachers and believers alike to avoid becoming deceivers….Sêe_Morē
