With U.S.-Iran negotiations currently at an impasse, Fox News senior strategic analyst and retired General Jack Keane is calling on the Trump administration to abandon the current ceasefire and resume combat operations to fulfill original strategic objectives.

Speaking on Fox News from 2:25, on Tuesday April 28, 2026, Keane argued that the three-week ceasefire has failed to produce an acceptable deal.

He suggested that Iranian leadership is using the pause to stall for time, hoping to leverage economic and political pressures against President Trump.

“I think to me the obvious pathway forward is finish what we started,” Keane said during his appearance. “The negotiations have not worked. Go back to the combat operations, finish up the last two weeks that we were not able to complete, about 25% of what is left, go back to the original objective”.

Keane outlined a clear path for the military, emphasizing the need to dismantle Iran’s offensive capabilities.
