A flatter stomach is not achieved by avoiding one particular food. Your overall diet, activity level, body fat, digestion and even bloating can all affect how your stomach looks. However, some meals can make you feel bloated or contribute to excess calorie intake when eaten frequently.
1. Large portions of fried rice and fried foods
Fried meals can be high in calories and fat, especially when prepared with plenty of oil. Eating large portions regularly can contribute to weight gain, while the heavy nature of the meal may also leave you feeling bloated.
2. Instant noodles with processed meat
Instant noodles can contain a lot of sodium, and eating them with sausages or other processed meats can make the meal even heavier. Excess sodium can cause temporary water retention, making your stomach look puffier.
3. Sugary pastries and soft drinks
Doughnuts, cakes, sweetened bread and soft drinks can provide a lot of added sugar and calories without keeping you full for long. Frequently consuming them can make it harder to maintain a healthy weight.
4. Very large portions of white rice and stew
Rice is not something you need to completely avoid. The issue is often portion size and what accompanies it. Large servings of rice combined with oily stew and other calorie-dense foods can contribute to excess calorie intake over time.
5. Heavy meals late at night
Eating very large meals close to bedtime may leave you feeling uncomfortably full or bloated, especially if the meal is oily or spicy. If you are hungry at night, a lighter portion may be more comfortable.
