The House of Representatives has summoned the EFCC Chairman Olanipekun Olukoyede, social media influencer Martin Otse (popularly known as VeryDarkMan), and crossdresser Idris Okuneye, also known as Bobrisky, over allegations of bribery involving the EFCC and the Nigerian Correctional Service. These accusations came to light after Bobrisky’s arrest in April on charges of money laundering, which led to a six-month prison sentence. The inquiry aims to uncover the truth behind these claims, particularly concerning possible corruption within the EFCC.

In the interview from from 10:00, The bribery scandal gained attention following a leaked audio recording shared by VeryDarkMan, which accused EFCC officials of extorting 15 million naira from Bobrisky in exchange for dropping certain charges. In response, the EFCC launched its own investigation, and the Minister of Interior ordered a separate inquiry, resulting in the suspension of several senior officials. This situation has raised significant concerns about potential corruption and misuse of power within Nigeria’s law enforcement agencies.

However, the handling of the allegations has sparked controversy. Lawyer and political analyst Mr. Adedotun Ajulo criticized VeryDarkMan for choosing to publicize the issue on social media rather than reporting it to the appropriate law enforcement authorities. According to Ajulo, such serious claims should have been dealt with through official channels instead of being broadcast online, which he suggested undermined the credibility of the claims and cast a negative light on the country.

Ajulo further argued that at this stage of the investigation, the primary focus should be on VeryDarkMan, as he is the one who made the allegations. He emphasized that, legally, it is up to VeryDarkMan to provide evidence supporting his claims, rather than shifting the responsibility to the EFCC or other involved parties. His statements pointed to the need for accountability from the accuser to ensure the truth is established.

While the EFCC may be conducting its own internal investigation, Ajulo noted that VeryDarkMan’s refusal to cooperate with the authorities has complicated the matter. According to him, instead of assisting with the inquiry, VeryDarkMan has publicly refused to meet with the EFCC, citing concerns about potential extortion, which further detracts from the seriousness of the allegations.

The situation remains unresolved, with the focus on whether VeryDarkMan will come forward to substantiate his claims. Until the allegations are proven, they remain speculative, and the investigation’s progress will likely hinge on the influencer’s cooperation with the relevant authorities. The involvement of high-profile figures such as Bobrisky has only heightened public interest in the case.

According to him, “Don’t you see, a VeryDarkMan, according to him, had access to an allegation of this magnitude, a crime against the state? What he was obliged to do is to report this to the law enforcement agency, but rather in a chase of what they call clout, the man was all over there to ridicule the country, went to the public dragging some private individuals into whatever it is.

For the purpose of clarification, as far as the law is concerned, the sole person that needs invitation for investigation at this point is VeryDarkMan.Yes, it’s VeryDarkMan because this person has come up with an alleged telephone conversation between Bobrisky and one other person; you (VDM) need to come forward.”
