3. Port Harcourt Maximum Security Prison, Rivers State

Port Harcourt Maximum Security Prison is located in the capital city of Rivers State, Port Harcourt. The prison was built in 1918 and was initially designed to house about 800 inmates. However, as of 2021, the prison was reported to be housing over 5000 inmates, making it one of the most overcrowded prisons in the country.

5. Ikoyi Prison, Lagos State

Ikoyi Prison is located in the highbrow area of Lagos Island, Lagos State. The prison was built in 1955 and is a maximum-security prison.
