In a recent interview with Noire TV from 20:55, Former President Olusegun Obasanjo shared insights from a discussion he had with Sheik Ahmed Gumi, the Islamic cleric known for his efforts to negotiate with bandits in the northern regions of Nigeria.

Obasanjo revealed that after Gumi’s visit to bandits’ in the forest, he invited the cleric to a private meeting to better understand the situation. He said during their conversation, Gumi revealed that the bandits fortified themselves so heavily that it would be difficult for security forces to enter their hideout

In Olusegun Obasanjo’s words: “When Sheik Gumi went to meet those boys (bandits) in the forest, I invited him to come and see me. The first thing he said to me is that look, where those boys are, they fortified themselves and if any security man says he is there or is going there, he is lying to you”….Sêe_Morē
