Governor Siminalayi Fubara recently addressed a request from the faction of the Rivers State House of Assembly, led by Martin Amaewhule, which asked him to present the 2024 state budget to them. It would be recalled Fubara presented the budget to a different faction led by Victor Oko Jumbo, which he considers the legitimate body.

In a live coverage by Channels TV from 10:04, Fubara expressed strong opposition to the demand, saying he would not take any actions to support the Amaewhule-led faction. He implied that by refusing to meet their request, he would prevent them from gaining any authority or recognition.

In Fubara’s words: “That thing they are looking for to make them feel they are coming back to life, we will not do it. I don’t want to call the name, but we will not do it. So let me see how they will come to life when we don’t do it. So I think everyone of you”.
