In a recent interview from 27:11 on Channels Television’s Politics Today, on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, Senator Victor Umeh, an NDC chieftain and former senator, addressed comments linking former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi to the Nigerian Civil War. According to Umeh, Obi was only a young child when the conflict began and could not reasonably be held responsible for or associated with decisions and actions taken during that period. He maintained that political discussions should focus on leaders’ records, policies, and contributions rather than assigning responsibility for historical events beyond their control.
