According to Daily Post, ahead of the 2027 presidential race, the Prelate Emeritus of the Methodist Church Nigeria, His Eminence, Dr Samuel Kanu Uche, has cautioned younger aspirants against relying on age as a deciding factor, stressing instead that genuine patriotism and leadership competence will determine who emerges successful.

In an interview, he addressed several national and international issues, including insecurity, the involvement of the church in politics, preparations toward the 2027 general elections, and an evaluation of President Bola Tinubu’s performance after three years in office.

Speaking on global tensions, particularly the ongoing confrontation involving the United States, Israel, and Iran, which some observers have described as a religious conflict, Uche dismissed such a narrow interpretation.

He emphasized that the situation is more complex and driven by broader geopolitical and economic interests rather than purely religious motives. According to him, the accumulation of military weapons by powerful nations often leads to pressure to either deploy or profit from them, thereby escalating conflicts.

He noted that the United States remains a dominant global power, Iran possesses significant uranium resources, and Israel is widely recognized for its strong military capabilities.

Despite these realities, he maintained that no nation truly benefits from war, pointing out its far-reaching consequences on global stability and economic conditions.

Uche further explained that in an interconnected world, crises in one region inevitably affect others.

He highlighted how the Middle East conflict has triggered ripple effects across international markets, particularly in the cost of goods and services.

Transportation expenses, he said, have risen significantly, impacting economies worldwide.

“When nations overproduce weapons, they must find a way to sell or use them. America is a world power, Iran is rich in uranium and Israel is known for its military prowess. But, we must understand that war does not pay any country. We can see its effects everywhere. The world is a global village, which is why the Middle East war has a spiral effect on goods and services globally; the cost of transportation has increased.” Read_More…
