According to a recent video from 1:33 by Edmond Obilo, Former activist and public affairs commentator, Abdul Oroh, has argued that the overwhelming support for Peter Obi in the Southeast during the 2023 presidential election reflected dissatisfaction rather than ethnic bias.

Oroh noted that Obi secured an average of about 85 percent of votes in the region, which he described as a clear indication that voters had grievances they wanted to express. According to him, the support was not simply because Obi is Igbo, but because many saw him as a credible alternative.

He acknowledged that ethnic sentiments played a role in the election but insisted they were secondary to broader concerns about governance and leadership. He added that voters across regions made decisions based on different factors, including performance records and political networks.
