ADC chieftain, Dele Momodu, has said that Peter Obi made the decision to leave the ADC because he believed he stood little chance of defeating former Vice President Atiku Abubakar in the party’s presidential primary contest ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Speaking during an interview from 7:15 on Arise News, Momodu stated that Obi’s quiet exit from the party reflected his understanding of the political realities within the ADC and the influence Atiku continues to command among party stakeholders and supporters across the country.
“That is why Peter Obi left quietly. He knew that in a race against Atiku, he had no chance. That’s why he left. And that’s more honorable because he didn’t deceive himself into thinking he could beat his former boss, in inverted commas.”
He noted that rather than remain in the party and engage in what could become a difficult and divisive contest, Obi chose to move to the NDC, a decision he described as more dignified and politically strategic for the former Anambra State governor.
According to Momodu, the former Labour Party presidential candidate understood that the ADC primary would likely favour Atiku because of his longstanding political structure, national reach, and relationship with many influential figures within the opposition movement….Read_More…
