Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has said that his administration has significantly reduced the state’s debt profile by about 60 per cent, bringing it down from about ₦191 billion in 2023 to less than ₦50 billion by the end of 2025, according to report by PUNCH on Saturday May 23, 2026.
He made this known on Friday night during his monthly media chat titled “Governor Alex Otti Speaks to Abians,” held in Umuahia, where he also highlighted key achievements of his administration in infrastructure development across the state.
According to him, the government has constructed about 414 roads equipped with streetlights and drainage systems within the last three years, while many of the projects are set to be commissioned soon. He also revealed that another 82 roads are currently under construction, covering about 212 kilometres at different stages of completion.
