Political analyst Jide Ojo has suggested that President Bola Tinubu may have deliberately chosen not to intervene in the prolonged political crisis between the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, and Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara.

Speaking during an interview from 10:34 on Channels Television, Ojo reacted to the growing tension between Wike and his political protégé, Fubara, which has continued to unsettle the political atmosphere in Rivers State.

The analyst said the president may have assessed the political implications of stepping into the conflict and decided against openly backing the governor in the dispute with his predecessor.

“The president perhaps have weighed his options and saw that it’s not worth getting into this fight to save Fubara,” Ojo stated during the interview.

According to him, the Rivers political crisis has evolved into a major battle for political control and influence, with both camps determined to assert dominance over the state’s political structure ahead of future elections.

The disagreement between Wike and Fubara began months after the governor assumed office and has since escalated into a wider conflict involving lawmakers, party loyalists and other political stakeholders within the state.
