In an interview with Channels Television, Femi Falana from 12:54, SAN, shared his findings from an investigation into why protesters went to Eagle Square despite a court order restricting them to the National Stadium.

He stated that his investigation revealed that the authorities had planned a counter-protest at the National Stadium, which would have led to a violent clash.

Falana suggested that the authorities may have deliberately created a situation to provoke a violent confrontation, which would have justified a crackdown on the protesters.

“I did an investigation on why did anybody go to Eagles Square even when the Court had restricted you to the National Stadium, unfortunately my findings didn’t speak well of the authorities because there was going to be a major violent clash in the National Stadium whereby the counter protest was also organized. A group putting on a vest with the inscription ‘No to Protest’ came in about six Lorry Loads and so these other guys who were restricted to the stadium, simply withdrew and attempted to use Eagle Square”….Sêe_Morē
