Amaechi made the remark while speaking during an interview on a political programme, where he discussed the growing contest for the ADC presidential ticket. The former governor stated that although Atiku has consistently emerged victorious in previous presidential primaries, he believes the coming contest should produce a different outcome.

“They said former Vice President Atiku has never failed in a primary before. I hope this will be the first time he fails a primary,” Amaechi said during the interview.

The former Rivers governor also questioned Atiku’s electoral strength, arguing that winning party primaries does not automatically translate into success at the general election. He maintained that the opposition coalition must carefully consider electability ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
