National Coordinator of the Obidient Movement and ally of Peter Obi, Yunusa Tanko, has praised the former presidential candidate for what he described as his commitment to education, humility and human capital development.

Tanko made the remarks during the National Obidient Movement Aspirants Summit held at Chelsea Hotel on Saturday, May 16, 2026. The event was aired by TV Platinum from 0:11 and attracted members of the movement, aspirants and political stakeholders ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Speaking at the summit, Tanko said he sometimes finds it difficult to fully understand the lifestyle and decisions of Peter Obi, citing what he described as a recent example involving an expensive wristwatch allegedly gifted to the former Anambra State governor. “I find it difficult to understand how Mr. Peter Obi does some of his things,” Tanko said.

According to him, Obi reportedly declined to keep a luxury wristwatch valued at about N300 million, insisting instead that it should be sold and the proceeds used to support education. “The latest I heard was this one I want to share with you. I hear a person was saying that Peter Obi was given a wrist watch worth 300 million Naira and he said that watch is too heavy for him to wear on his hands,” he stated.

Tanko added that Obi allegedly directed that the watch be converted into funds for educational purposes. “So he said they should go and sell that watch and bring the money for him so that he can use it for the education of the Nigerian child. That is greatness,” he said.

The Obidient Movement coordinator also praised Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, describing him as a leader who has made significant contributions to education, security and human capital development. “And I also met another cool gentleman who speaks very little but acts so vehemently. His name is his excellency engineer Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso,” Tanko stated.

He commended Kwankwaso for his role in transforming lives in Kano State, particularly among underprivileged citizens. “I’m able to say we are from the same states and he has transformed our states to a heaven of the children of nobody becoming somebody,” he said.

According to Tanko, both Peter Obi and Kwankwaso have distinguished themselves through investments in education, security and human development. “And this he has done, both of them have done in education and at the same time in security and human capital development,” he added….Read_More…
