Pastor W.F. Kumuyi, General Superintendent of the Deeper Christian Life Ministry, has criticized what he described as financial exploitation within some religious circles, warning that the practice is contrary to biblical teaching.

Speaking during a recent sermon streamed on YouTube from 41:50, Kumuyi expressed concern over situations where vulnerable worshippers are allegedly pressured into giving beyond their means in exchange for spiritual services or miracles.

He stated that such practices distort the message of the gospel and place unnecessary burdens on struggling believers. “The poor people are becoming poorer and the richer the preachers are becoming richer, that is not of God,” he said.

Kumuyi emphasized that true Christian ministry should reflect the teachings of Jesus Christ, particularly the principle of freely giving what has been freely received. He referenced scriptural instructions that spiritual gifts and services should not be commercialized or turned into financial transactions.
