During an interview from 25:03 on Arise Television on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, Dele Momodu reacted to ongoing debates surrounding possible opposition alliances ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
Momodu made the remarks while discussing suggestions that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar should step down for Peter Obi in order to strengthen opposition chances against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the next general election.
Momodu argued that every aspirant has the constitutional right to contest for office regardless of political calculations or coalition pressures.
According to him, “Today, my takeaway from your statement is that why can’t Atiku step down for Obi? I have never heard such an unfair comment in my life. A man wants to run; if he will record one vote, let him record that one vote.”
He further stated, “There is no guarantee that if he combines with or he leaves Obi and Kwankwaso, they will defeat Tinubu. Tinubu is clearly in charge of a lot of states in the north. You are underrating a man who can open the vault of Nigeria and waste it all on elections.”….Read_More…
