Former Minister of Youth and Sports, Solomon Dalung, has expressed disappointment over the reported defection of prominent members of the ADC, including Peter Obi and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, to the NDC.

Speaking during an interview from 13.48 on Silverbird Television, Dalung said the development came as a surprise to many members who helped build the coalition. According to him, he shares a close relationship with both politicians, but neither of them informed him about any problems within the coalition before their reported exit.

Dalung described Obi and Kwankwaso as respected political figures and said he expected members of the coalition to make sacrifices and remain united in order to tackle the country’s major challenges.

He stressed that insecurity and hunger affecting Nigerians are more important than personal political ambition. He also suggested that there may have been communication problems within the coalition, which possibly contributed to the movement of some members to other political parties.

The former minister maintained that unity among opposition figures is important if they truly want to address the difficulties facing the country and offer Nigerians a stronger political alternative ahead of future elections.
